Patrons of Alice Mae’s Soul Food Restaurant who may have been exposed to Hepatitis A and haven’t been treated yet have a chance to do so this weekend.
The Norfolk Health Department will be open Saturday and Sunday mornings because there’s been a big demand, officials said Friday.
Not all patrons have to worry about exposure. There is only concern if you were at the restaurant after 5:00 p.m. on April 16 through the 19th and drank an iced beverage or ate cornbread.
HOURS:
Saturday, April 30, from 9:00 a.m. to noon, for possible exposure from the 16, 17 and 18 only.
Sunday, May 1, from 9:00 a.m. to noon, for possible exposure on the 17 and 18 only.
Monday, May 2: frpm 9:00 a.m. to noon, for possible exposure on the 18th only.
If you have questions, call (757) 683-2034 between 8:00 A.M. to 8:00 P.M. weekdays.
Treatment can be given up to 14 days after exposure to prevent the disease, health officials added.
Hepatitis A is a liver disease caused by the Hepatitis A virus. The symptoms may include tiredness, poor appetite, fever and nausea, dark urine, and jaundice or yellowing of the skin and whites of the eyes. Symptoms may appear two to six weeks after exposure.
